A lot of you probably already know Dexter. No, we don't mean the cartoon carrying the same name, but Dexter the serial killer. For those of you who don’t know him yet, Dexter is a TV show about a blood spatter analyst working for the Miami Metro Police. His name is Dexter, and he has a dark secret: he is a serial killer.
GAMEPLAY
The game is based on season one of the TV-show. People who have been following it will directly recognize the story.
In this game your goal is to slip into Dexters skin and kill people. This sounds easy, but Dexter has a code of conduct. His father taught him that he can only kill bad people, the ones being guilty of murder themselves.
This is why Dexter has to first gather information before killing anyone. He gets this information by investigating his target and keeping track of collected information through his journal. When Dexter has gathered enough evidence to proof that his targets are guilty, he can kill them. He doesn't need to collect all evidence but this is one aspect that makes this game interesting. If you are a perfectionist and want to keep busy, simply make the game last longer by searching for more clues and evidence.
Once you have gathered enough information for Dexter, you can proceed to the killing. You have to prepare the "kill room" or "the stage" as Dexter prefers to call it. First of all you have to find 3 ‘gaps’ in the plastic wrapping you previously spread and which avoids leaving behind evidence . If you succeed in finding these 3 gaps, you get a bonus.

The second part consists in catching your victim. The hardest part is for you to follow your victim without him or her seeing you. When you get close enough, you can attack your victim and you will then automatically find yourself in the killing room. All that's left to do is kill your victim.
You have several ways of killing your victim: with a knife, a bone-saw and a cleaver. After you have chosen your weapon you have to wake up your victim and get a confession by leading a conversation. Each victim has a different character and you'll have to find out which way suits best to get a confession. All that's left to do is kill your victim. The killing comes with one of the many mini-games included in Dexter and allows you to earn bonus points.
MINI-GAMES
A very nice feature in this game are the mini-games. These make it much more fun as you get a bit of variation from your investigations. These mini-games help you gather evidence and they include: spatter, DNA, prints, paint chip, pick lock and decrypter.
In the mini-game 'Spatter' you have to analyse blood spatters and define which weapon was used by the killer to kill his victim.
'DNA' has two parts to it: during the first part of this mini-game your reflexes are tested. The same counts for the game 'Paint chip'. During the second part you have to search for a match to the killers DNA. But be careful, the more mistakes you make in the first part, the harder the second part!

'Prints' is just a mini-game during which you have to reproduce a pattern, so nothing complicated. During 'pick lock' the goal is to reach to the end of the keyhole with your pick-locker by tilting your iPhone to the left and right. The final mini-game called "decrypter' is simply a code guessing game.
GRAPHICS
One thing is for sure: the graphics of this game are really amazing. To be honest, we haven't seen any other game in the AppStore nearly as pretty! Some graphics could have been more refined, but all in all we have no complaints. Before we forget: another nice feature is the possibility to switch between 1st person- and 3rd person view by simply pinching the screen.
ALL IN ALL
Dexter - The Game is gorgeous, the atmosphere is interesting, the graphics are amazing, and we guarantee you'll spend a fun moment figuring it out! The play time, considering it is an iPhone game, is quite long. It took us 7-9 hours to get to the end of it, but once you've finished it, there is no interest in playing it a second time! Marc Ecko Entertainment, who are the makers of Dexter, are aware of this and have already announced a sequel. We will keep you updated as soon as we have news!
